Meri sighed as she came awake, gradually sliding from sleep to full attention as she sat up in her bed. Despite the relative smallness of the room Merideth had made it home. The wood flooring was covered in a long rug in shades of cream and mauve, which matched the comforter and assortment of pillows on her bed. The desk in the corner of the room was neatly arranged with candles and crystals which were decorative as she rarely used the desk, the wall decorated with pictures and hangings and other things that Meri had brought with her.
Sitting up, she ran a brush through her hair as she hummed to herself, getting ready to face the night. It seemed more and more she slept through the day, but she didn't mind. The most fun was to be had at night, after all.

Cain sat lazily in the Crow's nest, looking out to sea. He groaned and spat out, somehow hearing it splash. "Are we ever going to reach Sandui?" He asked himself. "Sitting out here on the open ocean is so... boring..."

Meri left the quiet solitude of her quarters and made her way to the deck, looking out over the expanse of the ocean. Being human her vision was nowhere as good as a vampire's, and thus she could only see the seemingless un-ending mass of water. Not that it bothered her. Looking around, she glanced up towards the crow's nest knowing someone would be up there but not being able to see who at first.

Cain's ears twitched as he heard someone on deck. He peeked up a little bit in hopes of seeing who it was early. Meri. "Bahaha," he laughed quietly. He sneaked over to a side and leaped over the edge of the Crow's Nest, landing on his feet right next to Meri. "Buenos noches, meinen freund." He said, mixing the 2 languages together.

Meri tensed slightly in suprise when he so-suddenly leapt down to her side, but nevertheless smiled welcomingly at Cain. She chuckled lightly in response to his greeting- knowing enough to know the languages were not the same but not so much to decipher which was what, not that it made much difference anyway. "Good evening, Captain." she greeted softly.

"It's Larry, right?" Cain asked, thingying his head to the side slightly. He jumped a little and pointed to Meri. "Just kiddin`! Meri. Meri. Meri Meri Meri. It is forever implanted in my brain." He chuckled a bit and drank from a jug on his side. "You're the first crewman that I've ever learned their name, you know."

Meri giggled softly at his statements, amused by his antics as usual. "If I am Larry, does that make you Moe or Curly?"she questioned jokingly, referencing the Three Stooges. A bright smile curled her lips as he pointed out that he did, in fact, know her actual name which actually flattered her a bit knowing that he didn't often seem to know the crewmembers' names. "I am? How lucky for me."

"Yes, very lucky," Cain said. "So what's on your agenda for the day... err night? I'm up for whatever."
(so short)

Meri shrugged lightly in response to his question. "I hadn't planned anything yet. I guess I was just going to take a walk around the deck before visiting the kitchens. Unless you have a better suggestion?"she questioned, honestly interested to hear any ideas. Cain was never dull, that was for certain.

"Well, we'll be pulling into Sandui in about half an hour," Cain said, looking through his telescope to the horizon. It had been a long time since he had been in Sandui. The last time he was there, he had a girl pleading to be his wife, 5 men angry at him for taking their sons into his ship and making them vampires, and a heavy, heavy tab at the pub. However, it had been at least 70 years ago, so he should have been in the clear. He hoped.

"Great."Meri said happily. She thought it would be a good idea to pick up a few supplies while they were in port. But also she just wanted the feel of solid land beneath her feet again. As much as she loved life on the sea, the occasional land-bound trip was greatly appreciated. "Is there anything in particular you want to see in Sandui?"she asked curiously.

Cain smiled at this. "Oh, an old acquaintance," he said. In truth, it had been one of his old friends, by the name of Todd Lovett. Todd and Cain had been friends since they met each other when they were younger. While Cain wanted to sail the world, Todd had wanted to become a chef. Cain had received letters from Todd while he was at sea telling him about his experiences at a chef's school. Soon, the letters stopped. He wondered about it for a while, but soon he got another letter, splattered with blood. It told him he had become what one could call a fiend-chef. He had killed a man and baked him to rid himself of the evidence. He then served him to the public and made a bundle of money. He had wanted to join the crew, and Cain, in need of a good chef, decided to allow him. "Yes, just an old friend," he said again, chuckling a bit.

"Oh, I see."Meri said with a little bit of a nod, taking in the information with a smile. Old friends were always good for a visit, she guessed. Though before she'd settled on the Lucifuge she hadn't had too many close ones herself- always working and everything. But she had friends now, of a kind. "I'm sure that will be nice for you." she said cheerfully.

"Not only for I, but for all of you as well," Cain said. "My friend is an accomplished chef. He can feed those who need to eat and those who wish for gluttony. His culinary is quite delicious, though his methods are a bit... insane." He looked back to the horizon and laughed heartily. "It would appear that we have arrived at Sandui ahead of schedule," he said. He stood at mid-deck and shouted incredibly loudly. "All hands, prepare to dock! Arrival at Sandui withing 5 minutes!"

Meri tilted her head thoughtfully as she listened to Cain, wondering about the 'insane' methods but not wanting to ask. She had a feeling she would not want to know. "I see. So we'll have a proper chef, then?"she asked assuming that was what was going to happen. It would be nice, that's for sure. She jumped slightly when his loud voice boomed out the order to the crew in the next minute, but the call was effective and had crewman scurrying to their jobs.
